Why does the hair react badly to the transition?
Dull, sticky, brittle and itchy hair can all be undesirable effects of going natural. Although it is hard to believe, this reaction is normal but should be temporary. Indeed the hair has been accustomed for years to substances which kept it and conditioned it in a certain state. When these substances are gone, the hair and the scalp are a little confused.
This explains why many people think that their brand new organic shampoo is ineffective because they are not aware of this transition issue. It’s quite possible to be dealing with a product that is poorly formulated or that does not suit your hair type but you’ll always have to do several washes before knowing.
Don’t panic, hair that becomes incredibly dry, difficult to comb or even dull when you switch to an organic routine is quite normal, we promise you. We also promise you that this is just one phase. You have simply entered what is called the transition phase. But what is it exactly?
A quick reminder: conventional shampoos contain silicones, quats or even mineral oil. All this is used to sheath your hair, to shine it, to make a dressing effect to hide what is wrong without repairing it. Your hair therefore looks very beautiful, but it can suffer underneath. And when you wash your hair with a Natural Shampoo, you get rid of the excess silicone at the same time. And the more it disappears, the more the true nature of your hair appears. Your normal, unadorned hair that you were not used to.
Rest assured, the transition period lasts about 1 month.
A "clean" shampoo that leaves the hair just clean without damaging it is the basis on which any natural routine rests, and which makes it possible. And that's all you need to ask for a shampoo. The moisturizing, nourishing or detangling actions are done before or after washing.
The transition objective
The objective of the transition period will be multiple. First of all, regulate the production of sebum in your scalp, whether it is insufficient (dry hair) or too much (oily hair). At the same time, you have to wait until your hair is completely rid of silicone residues and other occlusive agents. You can then see their real state and start to set up a skincare routine according to their needs which will complete your ideal organic or natural routine
